Tanks A Lot!!

Normally I cannot stand a cheesy pun but that one was too good to resist. So far this month, I have finished three tanks. Two of the Executioners and one of the Repulsors. I wanted to show the different colours I have done, and really to just stand back and be pleased with them. I have discovered that I really enjoy painting vehicles and it doesn’t take a great deal to make them look weathered and worn. Here they are in their battered glory!

I love the kits, and now that I have done several of them, I feel that they do not take a great deal of time to put together. I do need to work on making sure they fit together a bit better so there are no gaps in them though, the front panel is a swine for this. I just need to be a bit more patient.

Having an airbrush to base coat them makes them a lot quicker to paint, and I think using Seraphim Sepia to add the grime to the bottom just adds to the layer of battle damage. It applies really smoothly and although I have tried other washes, I just think this one looks the best!

Iron Hand Intercessors

I love painting Space Marines, so it always pleases me to be able to do so. I have some intercessors and seeing how the others sold really well, and I had some left over bits, I decided to make another squad of Iron Hands. I’m really pleased with how they have turned out, and I think I am getting rather decent at painting black armour as well. I like how the spots of highlight have worked this time as well.

The face also looks good in my eyes; faces are something I want to continue to develop this year and this is a good start.

Iron Hands: Squad 2

I finished squad two today. I am very pleased with how they turned out, but also with how quickly I managed to do so. When I have painted squads before, I have lost interest half way through and put them aside. I’m proud of myself for the focus I had and the resilience to stay the course and get them done. Twenty miniatures in three days, from undercoat to finish, in my eyes is quite the achievement!

Ten likely lads and not one boogly eye among them!

I now have an Ancient and the Iron Father to go, then my venture with the Iron Hands will be done for the time being.

Iron Hands: Squad One

I finished squad one of the Iron Hands today, and I enjoyed every minute I spent on them too. I love painting Space Marines, so that helps, but the black turned out really well. I love how the bits of flesh turned out and they all look cool when they are stood together as well. Here are some pictures:IMG_2999IMG_3001IMG_3002IMG_3004

This one is particularly shooty!

This guy is in charge of the missiles.

I think the grey guns stand out well against the black armour – can’t have Space Marines trying to blend in now can we!

Next, I shall work on Squad Two, then decals and then I will sell them! They can go and be loyal in a house that will appreciate it!

Batch Painting: Iron Hands.

Batch painting is something I have done before. I think those of us who paint units have all done this to one extent or another. I picked up some tips on doing this while on the Siege Studios course and I have put them to good use today. I have 20 Primaris Space Marines to paint as Iron Hands and thought I would do them all at once in a batch.

I put them in a line, realised there were too many and so put them in two lines instead, 10 in each. I then proceeded to do all the black, then all the white, then all the silver, and so on. I won’t lie, it is a bit of a slog, but it is getting them done and in a logical way that keeps me focused.

Primaris Conga Line?

When one is done, I turn him to face the other way so I know where I am in the line. I do take breaks and if I take one part way through, I know where to go back to when I return. Here they are in all their WIP glory!

One thing I do know is this – tomorrow is going to be an edge highlight festival…
